The current king of New York made sure we knew that with this gem. From the first song to the last you can feel the New York hip hop scene. Pop brings back to life the fat joe, 50 cent, Alicia Keys, Jay-Z and himself in this new project. New York rap basically feels like the glamorous life of Puffy and the gangster life of Al Capone combined. From songs such as Gangstas and 44 bulldog he paints this by the frequent mention of guns. His rough voice also brings out the gangsta feel. There’s a lot of mention of being surrounded by foreign people and materials from Bad bitch from Tokyo to Puerto Rico. 69 , a fellow New York rapper, is mentioned lowkey in the song snitching. 69 tried to show that snitching ain’t bad if you finna save your life. The way pop wrote it, puts you in a dilemma by how the nigga talks about it and sounds. WOO collabs are dope too! Featuring 50 was a smart move cause this album was albout that. He adds more wood to the fire and it can be hard to know who is who. Pop takes us back to the west, just to show us how he ain’t scared of the pirus nor crips. Its also to show that he ain’t choosing sides but aligns himself with the gangstas from there too. This is the height of the gangsta scenes in the album. The albums then moves to a mellow and heartbreak beats . Most probably for the fly girls. He doesn’t dissapoint and its good to see this side of Pop . Jcole, when still in NY, said that rappers don’t show there soft side these days. Guess he was wrong. Songs like Enjoy Yourself, moodswings, something special, What you know about love and Diana are the height of this theme. Got it on me and tunnel vision, are the albums closing and death scenes. Many men by 50 is sampled on got it on me and is a symbol of how he was gunned down. Tunnel vision is the last thing that pop sees before he dies. A good picture of his life.
